Taking art class and esl class together was very helpuful. It was easier to understand art materials becuase professor explained about it easily so i was able to catch up art class. If i studied alone and there was something came up that i didn't know, i might skip and not understand it.
It is great to take a major class with esl class for esl students. It gives an advantage for us.
My biggest benefit is my improved writing skill. It is still far to write well but my writing become more clear and organized. Learning many art vocabularies is also benefit for me.
I don't have any problem with taking paired courses. Everything is fine.

Blog Post #7 - Reflection Blog
Using my own blog is easier to look back all of my works and helpful for sharing some works with other people. I can also say that it is more interesting activity than paper work because we've used many materials and sources on the internet. In addition, i've learned the importance of putting citation if i get an idea from other people and how do i post comment on other person's blog.
I haven't spent very much time to work on my blog outside of class. I've done my blog works mostly in the class hours and i've worked on it at home when i haven't finished it.
Creating blog is a type of art. There isn't exactly same blog as yours anywhere in the world. You make some embellishment of your blog by yourself and post your own writing.
Most memorable activity is food art project and i've been enjoying activities which let us do Internet research and writes about it.

Blog Post #6 - Memes and Art - The pepper Spray Cop goes Viral
Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth (1948) |
The Creation of Adam (1508-1512), fresco painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo (1475-1564), |
2) I believe the creator wants to criticize the cop's behavior and let people see it so they can judge and think about it. This is "art for social causes" because it is created by happening social event.
3) Using a meme and re-creating art images in different ways looks like a type of plagiarism but it is okay if you put citation or mention original artwork.

Practice Post #6 - Internet Research
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
Jane Avril. c. 1893. Poster; lithograph printed in 5 colors.
2) He uses photography, painting and print as a medium. For example, he takes a picture of a person or people at first then he sketches with oil on the litho stone then he prints it. In his sketch, he tries to show the motion of subject which is not in the picture.
3) I like his style because i saw many printings look similar but he has his own styles and it is very special. i believe it is great to create own style and it has to be respected.'

Blog Post #5
1) I agree that "art can create empathy." People who have the same experiences or memories related to the topic of an artwork may feel more empathy for it. For example, some people who have experienced war probably have bad or sad memories of war. When they look at art works that are related to war, they may develop strong empathy for these artworks because they can connect to them more. On the other hand, people who have no experience of war may relate less to these artworks and their view would be less subject.
2) I also agree with her idea. I believe that the written word doesn't encourage us to develop critical thinking because when we see a written word, it's usually direct to the point and we can usually understand its precise meaning. Hence, we do not need to try to figure out what it means. On the contrary, when we look at a piece of artwork, its meaning is very unclear and we would have to generally assume what the artist is trying to express through his artwork. Thus, each individual who views the same piece of artwork may come up with different meanings and interpretations from it.

Statue of a kouros (youth)
I chose this becacuse it was very simple and i felt that it looked basic form of statue of human. The thing one of his leg is forwarded also made me interesting.
According to the website of Metropolitan Museum of Art(http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-of-art/32.11.1), " it is one of the earliest marble statues of a human figure carved in attica, the region around Athenes." The Greeks learned their carving skills like this statue from Egyptians and it was used by Greek sculptors for more than a hundred years. A kouros is very similar to Egyptian sculptures but the difference is the Greeks depticted their male figures in the nude, while the Egyptians were normally skirted. Moreover, the Greek sculptors emphasized the act of walking of the figure. On the website, they also says that this sculpture is unrealistic and looks weired to modern people, it shows two important aspects of Archaic Greek art.
